The second in my new weekly blog commitment this week, still not sure how this will work. It will be fun seeing what happens though. This last week should have been my week of days at my internship however because of covid-19 they are still not allowing interns into the building.
This means I am not learning which I am struggling with. I started my internship to become better yet I am starting to feel like I am going backwards. I’ve not seen the inside of an OR in over a month. I took a few days away this week to visit friends back in Great Yarmouth. I also got to do one of my favourite things. In the Victoria Arcade there is an amazing second hand bookshop with every single book for a £1… So off course I got a couple and sat on the beach reading. This helped and I’ve come back more relaxed.
I found a new author I really like – Tom Cain – and read his first two books (The Accident Man and The Survivor) in the three days. I’ve always found it frustrating how it takes me just hours to go through an entire fiction book with hundreds of pages. Yet when it comes to textbooks or scientific papers I can spend days on a couple of pages.
CertAVP study this week was focusing on the body wall and diaphragm, though most of my time went towards preparing my next case report which is due shortly.
With the BVDA conference we are so close to launch I am getting excited. We’ve started the final testing stage as we are doing bundle packages with membership and conference ticket in one. I’ve been working on the artwork for this which will go out with BSAVA Companion to 6000+ vets in September so feeling the pressure here.
I’ve also decided with the story of plaque to find a designer to work with, it is taking me hours to try and draw this. It was definitely the right decision as within hours of the initial idea I’ve had several sketches back, this is going to look absolutely awesome once it is completely finished!
I start my run of 7 nights today, hopefully will see some fun cases.
