It feels as though the week has flown by.
End of Module 5
My fifth CertAVP module is nearly complete. I’ve passed all my case reports and the end of module exam. I’ve still got to submit my case log however I need a couple more (specific) cases to be able to complete this so have an extension in place to allow me to do so. It feels amazing how far I’ve come and I am now considering booking my synoptic examination for next year to be judged as an advanced practitioner.
I start my next (and final) module this week, and have chosen to do Critical Care and Analgesia. I believe these are essential areas for a surgeon to understand for postoperative care.
Rewards
After such a hard week I decided to reward myself. This is something new for me as often I just go straight on to the next thing without stopping to appreciate what I’ve achieved. I have always wanted to learn to fly, which is one reason I chose an internship next to an airport. Unfortunately due to covid it has been delayed to this point. However things are slowly going back to normal. My first lesson was booked for last Tuesday however Storm Fancis decided this was not to be. I managed to reschedule for Saturday morning and spent the rest of the week watching the weather…
Lesson learnt here is to potential consider rewards that are non-weather dependant.
Flying
Saturday morning from home was blue clear sky. Reaching the airport however black clouds appeared. However it was still flying weather!
I flew a plane! Whooop!
It was amazing. So much better than the rollercoasters that I’ve loved so far. I was lucky to be able to spend a lot of the time in the air in control. And being able to get a good view around with windows all around me was a different experience compared to normal flying. The landing was strange though as due to the crosswinds the instructor approached the runway flying sideways. I am so excited for my next lesson, however that’s got to wait the 14 days of work first.
This next week I am back on days.
